| Hotel Accommodation Reviews | | | Rydges Reef Resort Review Port Douglas, Australia 4 / 5 Star Rating We were very happy with the room we had at the resort - it was just as we expected. Air conditioning worked a treat and there wasn't a problem having it going during the day. There were many pools to choose from and one we loved at the end of the day was the Swim up bar. Happy hour was from 4.30 - 6.30 each day and the drinks were half price. Entertainment was good. Always something going on. We found the staff very helpful. Maid service excellent. Staff always helpful in booking day trips etc for us. I enjoyed the bird life - Herons Egrets - I was able to view a crocodile in a nearby lagoon. One of the highlights for me was the bacon, lettuce and avacado sandwiches at the restaurant where the dive ships departed from for viewing the coral reef. My other half just loved the Mangos, and the proximity to a swimming pool from our room. Of course we just loved the warm temperatures during the day. The Resort is 4-5 kms from the shops in Port Douglas and 10 minutes walk to the beach. I would have liked the beach a little closer. I would recommend the Rydes Reef Resort to a friend. I would love to return one day. J&J New Zealand 18 June 2006 | | |
