Tips for Stress-free Travel
Never leave your baggage unattended in Airports or public places. Unattended baggage can attract drug couriers. Unattended baggage can also be considered a bomb threat and be blown up by local police or Airport authorities.
In countries with uncertain hygiene, drink only bottled water. Or water that you have poured has come from a boiler. Avoid ice, leafy salads, fruit that you cannot wash and peel, and processed meat (especially chicken).
Try to eat in established restaurants rather than on the street from food vendors.
Always lock your luggage when you leave your hotel room as maids / hotel staff will steal from you and the Hotel will not replace or pay for lost items.
Never rely on Hotel Reception for a wake up call, always set a back-up alarm on your watch or cell phone.
Always store money, documents, and valuables in the Hotel room safe or in the safe at Reception.
Always carry personal identification documents with you. Some countries require you to always carry your passport.
Carry a wallet in a small bag with small change so that you do not have to go into your money belt in public places.
Travel Insurance
Don't leave home without medical insurance. Make sure you have a contact number in your home country in case of an emergency. You may never need it, but on the other hand, it can literally save you life.
Check if your travel insurance also covers lost luggage, rental car hire and emergency evacuations. |
