Driving Rules in Germany In Germany, motorists drive on the right and overtake on the left. Speed Limits Speed Limits on local roads outside of towns are 100 kph (65 mph) and expressways and motorways have no speed limit. In Germany, there is a general speed limit of 50 km/h (30 mph) inside of towns. The most famous roads are the German intercity Autobahn, many of which has no speed limit or only advisory limits. Speeds over 200 km/h (125 mph) are not uncommon. However, about 50% of the total Autobahn length is subject to local or conditional limits with the "recommended speed" being 130 km/h (80 mph). |
