About Budapest Hungary

Budapest is a known as the city of spas with a dozen thermal baths served by over a hundred natural thermal springs. Budapest is he capital city of Hungary and was created out of the unification of the separate historic towns of Buda, Pest and Óbuda in 1873. Hungary joined the European Union in 2004.

Budapests population is approximately two and a half million people. Snowfall is frequent in winter and the summers are very hot. In the summer season ( June-August) the average temperature is 21,0°C, 70°F. In the winter season (December- February) the average temperature is -0,9°C, 30°F.

The River Danube flows majestically through the centre of Budapest on its way to the Black Sea. Széchenyi Chain Bridge that crosses the River Danube is the most recognizable symbol of the city. Stunning views of Budapest can be seen from the riverbank at night.

Budapest’s network of public transport services includes buses, trolleybuses, trams, underground trains (Metró) and over ground suburban trains (HÉV).

Highly recommended is a visit to Castle Hill. On the hill, the Royal Palace complex houses the vast Hungarian National Gallery, the National Széchényi Library, Matthias Church and the Fishermen’s Bastion, which has stunning views of Budapest city.
