About Hamilton New Zealand
Hamilton, with a population of over 130,000, is the largest inland city in New Zealand. Hamilton is built along the banks of the mighty Waikato River and is the commercial centre for the Waikato Province. Because of its central location, Hamilton can draw on over 1.6 million people from within a radius of 150 kilometres.
Hamilton is surrounded by one of the richest agricultural and pastoral areas in the world. Dairy farming is by far the most important industry but horse breeding, cattle, deer and sheep farming are also part of the agricultural scene.
As a consequence, the city has a vibrant and sustained economy based on agriculture and allied industries. The City Centre offers restaurants, cafes, bars, shopping centres, malls, hotels, and a casino. Popular tourist locations include the Waikato Museum of Art and History, the Hamilton Zoo, Hamilton Lake (site of the yearly balloon festival), and the Hamilton Gardens. Other popular attractions include the Cricket Stadium, Innes Common with its Hockey grounds, Mystery Creek Field Days, and Waipa Delta Paddleboat river tours.
Hamilton is served by an International Airport and has excellent road and rail linkages. The City has excellent educational facilities with acclaimed Primary, Intermediate and Secondary Schools, Waikato University, and the Ruakura Agricultural Research Centre. The City is also served by Waikato Hospital and well-established Health Centres, Medical Centres, Rest Homes and Community Centres.

Simple, friendly and cost concious motel. Has everything you need, especially for kids (tramp and swing). Great Indian, Thai and pizza just round the corner and a short walk to the river. There was 4 of us, 2 adults and 2 kids (under 4) stayed there whilst doing the Rev120 cycle ride. Owners very welcoming
