Inverness Castle Inverness Castle was built on the site of an earlier fortress in 1835 and sits on a low cliff overlooking the River Ness and the cathedral on the opposite bank. Originally built of wood, it was replaced by a fortress of stone on Castle Hill.
Moniack Castle Located 15 minutes' drive north of Inverness, Moniack Castle home to the Moniack Highland Wineries. Tours and complimentary tasting. They produce and bottle country wines and liqueurs, and also make preserves and sauces which are on sale. It is open all year.
